History : The temple is near the fort premisis.This fort was one of the best strategically designed fort of that period. Kings of Vijayanagar Empire constructed the fort in Rayadurgam and is said to be one of the oldest forts in Andhra Pradesh. This fort has played a significant role in the defense and expansion of Vijayanagar Empire during the period over decades. This fort has been constructed over an height of 2727ft from mean sea level.

The Dome of the Temple which is about 40.5 feet hight, is intricately caved with fine carvings.The temple was so spacious, when we entered in to the main dome we can see the fine architechure of the ancient people with beautiful carving. And dwajastambam is soo high and made of huge rock placed in front of the main door of Temple.
